So why do most agents recommend working with a broker?

However there may be some relief on the way - for the past 2 months the Reserve Bank of Australia has kept the cash rate unchanged. A few of the big banks (Westpac, CBA & ANZ) have forecast that this is the end of rate rises for the foreseeable future. This has given homeowners hope for the future and buyers the confidence to enter the property market again. 
 
We have also seen a large number of homeowners refinancing. The amazingly low fixed rates of 2% in 2021 are starting to expire and customers are being offered variable rates of 6% or more, adding extra stress to the rising cost of living. 
 
Refinancing has many benefits - a lower interest rate, improved cash flow, debt consolidation and change in loan period, all help when dealing with the high cost of living. Consolidating Afterpays, Zip Money, and credit cards into 1 manageable payment could also end up saving you hundreds per month.
